The traditional demonstrations at local prisons saw an increase in their numbers and more cities decided that this was a good way to salute the upcoming year.

In Berlin, the month of December hosted several events under the motto “Behind different windows… but the chains remain the same ones! New year’s eve to the prisons – question, demount and destroy the machine of prison!”, events ranged from discussion about ongoing trials against comrades, the building of a new detention center at the new Berlin’s airport, to a demonstration against the local detention center for immigrants.

On the new year’s eve, the idea of hosting a rally in the early afternoon in front of the detention center was reconfirmed and about 150 people found their way there, bringing some noise and chants of solidarity for those imprisoned.

However, the communication with the prisoners was rendered impossible by the action of the screws, who moved the people there where they would not be able to hear anything coming from the outside.

Solidarity keeps being a scary enough thing for our enemies.

At night, over 750 comrades took the streets surrounding Germany’s largest judiciary prison, Moabit, exploding fireworks along the route and making themselves heard from bystanders and inhabitants of the district. The front banner read “So that our passion for freedom makes the walls crumble down”, a further banner “Solidarity with Sonja and Christian. Yesterday like today – Thousands of reasons to revolt”, thematising the imprisonment and repression against these two comrades extradited from France because of their participation in some actions of the German guerilla group ‘Revolutionary Cells (RZ)’, another banner commemorated the killing of Dennis J., murdered by police on the new year’s eve of 2008 in the outskirts of Berlin.

Arriving at midnight at the prison, the prisoners who were at their windows showed again their support for this type of action by waving with their hands at those who were there in solidarity.

For half an hour a large firework show has been ongoing in front of the prison to salute the new year with the prisoners. The demonstration was more or less left in peace by the police, only at the end there has been some little scuffles since some people threw paint at them close to the end of the demonstration, so they tried to make some arrests.

Surely the fact that this time there hasn’t be an amplification for the demonstration (which failed shortly before out of technical reasons and got substituted with a bullhorn) diminished the impact of the event in terms of communication with the prisoners.

Meanwhile several attacks against the police took place elsewhere in Berlin.

A group named ‘All Cops Are Bastards – Team Kreuzberg 36′ took responsibility for an attack undertaken against the cops at the bridge connecting Friedrichshain to Kreuzberg, where they attacked a van and two police cars with stones and fireworks in remembrance of those killed by the police, especially Dennis J.

Another police car has been attacked in the district of Friedrichshain shortly afterwards, with stones and paint, a further one has been smashed a little later together with one belonging to the plainclothes police, both in front of a former squatted house which was hosting a party, which was stormed afterwards by the riot-police who aimed to make some arrests, but also met some resistance by those in there.

To end the night, in the district of Treptow another police car has been attacked by unknown ones with stones.

In Dresden, 20 people in solidarity went to pay a loud visit to the local prison, exploding fireworks, in Bremen over 100 comrades held a rally in front of the prison with fireworks and firecrackers, a samba-noise band was also present.

In Freiburg, about 60 comrades took the streets for an unregistered demonstration against prisons, held speeches and exploded fireworks, finally throwing some pink paint at the prison main gate, while in Cologne 150 people in solidarity gathered in front of the prison, held speeches in several languages, made noise and a pyrotechnic show.

In Stuttgart, 350 comrades demonstrated at first in the innercity under the motto “No justice – no peace! Fight class justice! For a revolutionary 2012″. Later on about 150 of them gathered in front of the well-known jail of Stammheim, where also some Kurdish comrades are imprisoned at the moment.

There has been a good communication with the prisoners because the comrades have been quite loud, they held some banners and flags and again exploded the beloved fireworks. Flyers have been also distributed in the postboxes of the houses located in the district where the prison is built, in order to inform the inhabitants about the action and its reasons.

In Hamburg some comrades decided to host a non-registered protest at the local judiciary prison on the 30th, since they were fed up with the increased repression undertaken by the cops during the last new year’s eve at the prison: that is why they walked as a spontaneous demonstration there, carrying a banner reading “freedom for all – against all walls”, exploded fireworks, screamed slogans and threw paint against the prison entrance and of of its surveillance towers.
They dispersed as soon as the police came.

In Frankfurt, some people decided to begin the new year under the banner of direct action and attacked two banks with stones, set fire to some trashbins in order to enflame some of the bank’s publicity signs and attacked the police cars which came on the spot to end the action. In the claim which they published they called for an “insurrectionary 2012, let us bring the insurrection in the heart of the beast”.

In Dortmund, the ‘Office for Order’ has been attacked with paint and the windows smashed with stones, to protest against the growing social control in some city areas.

We are empowered by the growth of these moments of attack and solidarity against any logic of detention, control and its enforcement by State authorities, in Germany as elsewhere in the world, as it has been the case this year through a wide range of actions in front and against prisons.

We salute all the rebels in any prison of the world, those on the run and all those who decided to stand in solidarity with them, struggling day by day for a world which does not need prisons and detention centers.

For the spread of social revolt.

Despite previously being a good friend of the now unmasked undercover cop Mark Stone/Kennedy, like most who genuinely knew him well I have until now maintained a stoic silence on the affair, in print at least. I regret having to make this statement and do so only in view of the fact that I have been named in the national press at least twice in relation to the matter, and to clarify the facts regarding the issue in as much as they pertain to myself.

Bearing in mind that I knew him longer than practically anyone else in the movement, and was certainly the first person to be targeted by the ‘Mark Stone’ operation, I regard the publication of my name as the inevitable consequence of some activists talking to the corporate media and dealing with them in a way that has allowed ex-PC Kennedy to further profit from his infiltration of our movement while partially rehabilitating himself in the eyes of a few. It is also the consequence of certain elements divisively trying to present the parts of the movement they infest as liberal to the point of being unworthy of police attention, compared to militant political movements which are implicitly fair game.

I first met the man I knew as Mark Stone in the summer of 2003 and we quickly became good friends. He has stayed at my home many times, but as we lived in different cities, we did not see each other frequently and in fact only rarely engaged in any form of political activity together. When I first knew him PC Kennedy drove a small Escort van and appeared to have a modest lifestyle. He may have had access to large amounts of cash, but he certainly did not ‘flash’ it around me and I gained no financial advantage whatsoever from our friendship. As for his supposed cover story or “legend” as a former drugs courier, I only learned about this when I read about it in the newspapers.

Since PC Kennedy and I moved in slightly different circles, both politically and socially, I’m unsure how useful my friendship would have been to him in terms of meeting other activists. While a few people, for the most part non-political, may have met him when we socialised together where I live, we never travelled abroad together and I never supplied him with any personal contacts. In fact the only time I can recall travelling anywhere with PC Kennedy was on a trip to the English Lake District, when he drove the Skoda he then owned and I paid for the petrol. The only time I attended a demonstration at the same time as PC Kennedy was some years ago when we both turned up to a peaceful protest in support of asylum seekers at Lindholme prison in South Yorkshire.

If there were any rumours about ‘Mark Stone’s lack of trustworthiness prior to his unmasking I am certainly unaware of them, and consider them to be a convenient revisionist fiction. I was neither involved in nor informed of the investigation into his true identity, and only learned about the matter one or two hours before the news was published on Indymedia. It obviously came as a considerable shock to discover that someone I had known for seven years, and considered a very close personal friend, had lied to me throughout that period and that he had actually been an undercover police officer.

I do not own a camera and do not possess any photographs of ex-PC Kennedy, nor have I at any time had any contact with him or knowledge of his whereabouts since his exposure.

While it may be convenient for me now to be painted as “a powerful figure within the global underground protest movement” it is also a fiction. I am an ordinary, and unfortunately ageing, activist, no more “powerful” than anyone else. I know many people in the movement because I have been in it a long time, and because they are sometimes willing to excuse my “cantankerous” nature. In fact, I have not been abroad for nearly 3 years now and have not had a home internet connection for over a year. If ‘Anarchy International’ could have a whip round for me I would be grateful!

My sympathy goes out to all those personally affected by this affair, of which I’m sure there are many, both here and abroad. Police attention is an inevitable consequence of radical struggle and the lengths, and depths, our enemies will go to in defence of their masters should come as no surprise. The answer to State repression is resistance not liberalism.

Always in struggle

During a trial against so-called „climate activists“, the „Ratcliff 6“, one offered the stage again to Mark Kennedy. The „activists“ gave away many informations about him and his links to the local scene; the medias, which have been fed and supported by the „activists“, launched themselves on this hot story which, day by day, uncoils new developments and manages even to overshadow the ongoing unrests in Tunisia.

What is happening right now in England is really dangerous. People who describes themselves as political activists (who thanksfully have no pretence to understand themselves as revolutionaries, anarchists or whatsoever) got in touch with Mark in order to save their asses at the trial. Mortifying phonecalls between one well known english movement-manager and Mark have been broadcasted on television, shaking the english „public opinion“ who now asks for elucidation since she shows surprise in regards to the normal way how the repressive autorithy works. But grassing and spying on have been always belonging to the means of any sort of repressive agency.

Through this operation, one allowed a partial rehabilitation of Mark, who apparently reconstructed his new life in USA, since he can appear now as the grass who „shows regret“, potentially obtaining the compassion of some. This story is being very present in the medias since many are not shying away from talking to the press, feeding them with informations who partly not even people from the movement (intended here in the widest possible acception) have been entitled to receive. Now, all of the sudden many pictures of him appear as also the information that he was working with a private spying company after quitting the cops, a company which is specialised in spying on radical movements. Many had to read some things on the newspapers which are important parts of this all puzzle, in England as also otherwise.

We ask us what’ s happening right now in England. We believe this way of acting to be a very dangerous and irresponsible one. As also not respectful towards the comrades who would like to get informations about this case since they are personally met by it. We have absolutely no understanding for the tactic how this case has been dealt with in England and we are disappointed by the lack of its critic. Surely it is difficult to draw a picture from other countries and we do hope that some people will bring forward a fierce debate around this case. Because silence does not help us to overcome critically such hard moments.

The ones who currently are feeding the media circus might like to define themselves as climate activists, for sure they are not the ones with whom we feel to be on the same side of the barricade (and we will never be). Indeed we like to say things clearly, diplomacy has never been our strenght. We do wish a heated debate with such characters to the comrades in England who did not yet lost their face and their ideals.

We are happy to deliver a counter example from Germany where comrades from Heidelberg, who recently have been confronted with a similar case, made everything possible in order to render impossible the life of the grass, also by giving out immediately all needed informations to the rest of the movement. We are glad of this and we believe that some people in England might learn from this example.

We would like to underline how this story crossed the channel and expanded to Germany. English journalists animated by curiosity wrote us a couple of emails during the last days (probably because we have been here the first ones who made public this case) and tried to talk with other comrades with the aim to ask us if we ever met Mark or if we would like to meet with them in order to sketch a picture of his activities and friendships here in Berlin. They offered also the nice option to meet „under three eyes“ in the case that we would not like to appear in public.

Our answer could have only been that one of a clear and decided refusal and let the piss off, since we believe to be extreme dangerous to give more informations to the press so that they can keep up with their scandal. Moreover we do not have to forget a clear interest from cop’s side, who surely have not been chilling about during all this time and are lurking behind the corner. Therefore we want to call up all the comrades to not give any informations about Mark! The processing of this story has to lie in the hands of the ones who had to deal with him, nobody else has to carry an interest in that, and the press for sure not at all!

In closing we hope that Mark „will have to look over his shoulder for the rest of his life“, as an english cop declared. That is the minimal price he has to pay.

The interview that follows was conducted by Ntina Daskalopoulou and published in an Athens daily this morning. It is translated and posted here as is: with no comments, additions or explanations – none is needed. After 36 days on hunger strike, Thodoros’ words are crystal clear. In his face, the State has found an enemy to unleash all its revanchist rage, some rage in reality directed against an ever-growing current of disobedience, resistance and solidarity. As long as there are people like Thodoros standing up to the wrath of the State, the next December will always be close. In the struggle against their order, Thodoros is not alone.

“I took a stance for December
and I am now faced with the State’s reprisal”
- Thodoros Iliopoulos

Eight months in pre-trial detention for December’s events, the last one also on hunger strike. His anticipated release in July never came, the theatre of the absurd of the charges against him continued and Thodoris remains incarcerated. But a fighter. This time, his “weapon” is his own body. He spoke to us over the phone from the prison of Korydallos. From there he sees the revanchist face of the State, that Greece of violence and repression but also another Greece of the restless youth, of the faith in ideals. Insisting on his innocence and his own beliefs. Paying dearly for both.

I hear his voice with intermissions from the loudspeakers blasting orders to the prisoners of Korydallos. He is extremely polite, low-pitched, strong within his weakness. Now fragile, but determined, in the middle of August, the month with no news, he fights the struggle for his freedom with the only weapon he has left: His own body.

- The state prosecutes you for legal offenses, felonies and misdemeanors, and considers you so dangerous that will not release you under restrictive terms. How do you feel about this?

“From December 18 I found myself being a protagonist in this theatre of the absurd. They arrested me together with others en mass, as I was walking down Akadimias Street with some friends. Five riot police units surrounded around ten of us. I started running and two of them caught up with me, they threw me on the pavement and started kicking me in the head, screaming “now you’ll see what will happen to you”. I had no idea what would happen to me. Finally, what happened was that I found myself charged with three felonies. According to the inquisitor, at the moment of my arrest I was outside the Law School throwing molotov cocktails. The only witness account existing of this is that of the two riot police who arrested me. When the inquisitor asked them if they would recognise me on the street and they responded positively, she put up her finger, showed me and said, “is it him?” She exposed me herself! Of course, the riot police… recognised me. From that point on they won’t release me because in reality they need me as hostage. From the arrested only a few took a stance for December. I’m not saying they were obliged to. I took a stance and I am faced with the State’s reprisal.

- How did you experience the December events?

“My dad is on his final days and he is suffering from altsheimer and my mom is 83 years old and cannot look after him. For this reason I only made it to the streets twice, unfortunately. It was a very good opportunity to discuss and to think, to offer solutions, to exchange ideas. Some, with dubious interests, read the events with crocodile tears, they weep for the disaster and the destruction. And yet December gave birth to a different way of thinking and most importantly, it took kids away from their playstations and internet cafes. It is naive and unfair to say that the kids took to the streets only to ease their rage. They were claiming their ideals and their dreams”.

- What was your stance toward the State and what is it now?

“If I tell you, they’ll throw me in jail for life… I’m kidding. I don’t want to assign any labels to myself, like anarchist or anti-authoritarian. I am a visionary of direct democracy, of deciding and acting together. During my teen years I was fascinated by the philosophy of anarchism from Zenon to the cynics and all the way to Enrico Malatesta. Even today, I remain fascinated by these. I am struggling for a different world. Not with molotovs and stones, but with ideas and texts. I am not the first nor the last to which the state shows its revanchist face. What bothers them, what they repress is not my action, but my stance and my ideas. They charged me with fabricated charges, they ignored the proofs I submitted of my innocence. The issue, for the state, is that I insist on thinking. And I think differently. In this sense, tomorrow morning you – or anyone else – could find yourself in my position”.

- Do you now fear the country called Greece?

“No. It is frightening to walk down Akadimias street and then to find yourself locked up in a cell for months, but I have such a great desire to live that I am not afraid. And also, beyond the Greece of repression and violence, I also see another Greece, that of a restless youth, solidarity, faith in beliefs”.

- Why did you chose the hunger strike?

“When anyone commences a hunger strike, they should normally be examined by a dentist – it is the teeth that get damaged first – and a psychiatrist to prove that s/he is not suicidal. Although this did not happen in my case, I want to assure you that I am not suicidal, I do not at all want to die. Neither do I want to suffer some irreversible damage that will leave me injured for the rest of my life. Of course, as explained by my doctor, after the 30th day of hunger strike the really serious problems begin, as some of your vital organs can fail. But really, I have no other option left. My body is my ultimate weapon.”

- Does the hunger strike flirt with death?

“Everything flirts with death. If you are a migrant, a visit to the playground of Ayios Panteleimonas can automatically mean your death. Or if you are a worker in a factory. Or if you are a cyclist in the streets of Athens. A hunger strike can bring you a few steps toward death, but closer to freedom. As the foreigner that I am in the bosses’ world, as a worker, as a cyclist, I never feared death. As a hunger striker I live with the hope of liberation, not with the fear of death”.

- You are in love, you were preparing for your release in July and a common house with your lover. What do you two say now?

“We spend endless hours talking everyday, she writes to me and I write to her, we plan out our life. We are very close, we face this as a team. The prison limits the freedom of the body, not your soul. Each time we hang up she tells me venceremos. We are young, in love and have so many beautiful things to live together. And we shall win”.

- What dreams do you see?

“In the beginning I had nightmares. With a daily struggle I managed not only to eject anything that could destroy me, but also to have dreams with power and joy. I have chosen to live creatively this chapter in my life”.

- What did you learn in prison?

“Every prison is a miniature of the society. You see people convicted of financial crimes who are interested in doing business even here, all the way to child molesters. But you also see innocents, people who had no money for a good lawyer or to pay their bail. Before coming in here I was dogmatic about this, I thought that… it’s the bad ones who are in prison. Yet in here you are forced to understand that what is bad is subjective, to admit that anyone could be a potential murdered under given circumstances.

“Everything is inside us. In prison you learn new codes and, most importantly, to trust no-one. And some ways that help your life. Here you live with the absolute minimum. What we consider rubbish outside, is useful here. Who would ever know that in order to cover your bookshelves with a curtain you would use burnt ear buttons instead of glue?”

- How do your fellow prisoners treat you?

“Political prisoners were always treated with respect by the penal ones, although I don’t want to make this distinction. We are all imprisoned and we face the same problems. We as well, even if we are political prisoners, face the penal code. My fellow prisoners support me: Nikos Tsouvalakis went on hunger strike on the same day as me, in solidarity. Other prisoners abstain from their meals. Most of them support me with simple, everyday actions: They visit me in my cell, they lend me books, they give up their place in the phone queue. ”

- What is your cell like?

“You are locked up 18 out of 24 hours in a space of maximum 8 square meters, together with another 3 prisoners. The heating is insufficient. Cockroaches and rats often make their appearance. The toilets are in the basement with broken windows and cold water.”

- The prisoners say your biggest enemy is time. How do you spend your days?

“There is this theory in prison that the more you sleep, the faster you come out. I think that the more you sleep, the less you live. Now that I can no longer walk I read in the cell, I write, I paint, I listen to music, I make DIY constructions from cheap materials.”

- What inspires you?

“The corridors, the prison bars and the barbed wire. All this has put me in the process of creating another reality, comprised of words and paintings”.

What would you tell the minister of justice if you saw him?

“I would read him a poem by poet Titos Patrikios:

I pluck the words one by one from my throat/

if they ooze blood/ wrap them in your handkerchief/

wrap them in cotton/

or then maybe grab them with a clip and say/

“he’s only saying these, to make an impression”/

Do what you want,/

but silence is not enough no more/

words are not enough no more/

I pluck the plain words, one by one/

and I send them to you.”

- How do you dream of your life after prison?

“Plain in terms of living, rich in terms of thinking – and I also want us to have a kid that won’t ever leave me alone!”

- After all this grueling experience, would you take to the streets again?

“Of course. With the only difference being that I will be absolutely ready to face any fixed-up charges. After all, I always took to the streets with my face as my only hoodie.”

The insurrection in Greece left some comrades and rebels behind bars. The judges and the state would like to use them now as scapegoats, because someone has to pay. However they are no scapegoats, but struggler, who need our active solidarity. Here a appeal in support of the imprisoned ones and a letter from Apostolis, one of the anarchist prisoners, who sat in prison Korydallos in Athens till end of June for more than six month.

FIRE TO CLEANSE THE EARTH

A movement that is not capable of looking after its comrades in prison is destined to die, and that at a high price under atrocious torture.’

- Daniela Carmignani, Revolutionary Solidarity

The insurrection in December was a visible and mass expression of the social war that rages at all times and will continue until the destruction of all domination.

Thousands fought in the re-appropriated streets of the necropolis. Hundreds were arrested and, with exceptionally swift procedures, several were thrown in prison. Six of them still remain imprisoned up to this day. Because for those in power someone has to pay the price for the negation in practice shown by all of us against this decaying world.

Within the first two weeks of June the remaining prisoners of December, amongst them the anarchist A.Kiriakopoulos, will be coming in front of a board of judges who will determine whether their imprisonment will be extended. Days of action will take place between the 12-15 of June in solidarity across Greece.

Prison is a direct and violent tool that power has at its disposal to use against those that are not able or refuse to follow its rules. Especially in moments of intensified struggle or revolt, prison plays the role of isolating the “troublemakers” to weaken our collective attack and instill fear in those who may be willing to join the fight. In this way, prison and the justice system are structures that aim to inhibit the generalization of social conflict. Therefore, solidarity with all those imprisoned for the insurrection in December is necessary for the furtherance of the revolutionary project.

Solidarity should not be viewed through the lens of duty, obligation or charity nor does it require a personal relationship or absolute political identification with those imprisoned but is a means to strengthen our ties as collaborators in a conspiracy against the existent. Solidarity is our weapon by which we attack not only the prison but all the structures of power in a continuation of the social struggle as a whole. At the same time, solidarity is a tool used to obtain the immediate practical result of freeing our comrades in prison.

This is a call to comrades wherever they may be to start a wave of solidarity that sends shudders down the spine of the bastards in power. Let’s prove to them that the Athens syndrome is indeed a contagious disease.

Inside and outside the prison bars, the insurrectionary perspective is a permanent condition which does not wait for a specific moment, does not accept charity but attacks directly, everywhere, always.

Until the destruction of all prisons

FREEDOM TO THE COMRADE A.KIRIAKOPOULOS AND TO ALL THE PRISONERS OF DECEMBER

SOLIDARITY WITH THOSE PROSECUTED

- For the generalization of the insurrectional clash

Letter from anarchist A.Kiriakopoulos from Koridallos prison

Five months after the explosive events of December, the mass arrests and the prosecutions that took place, six of us remain captives in the claws of the state.

Recently, the so called “justice state” and its servants decided to extend my pre-trial detention (remand) stating that what should come first is the extermination of my person and of my “criminal” activity and the protection of society. According to their characterization, I am a reckless and fanatical person. To sum it up they characterized me an enemy of society. But the enemies of society are all those who after the cold-blooded murder of comrade Alexis Grigoropoulos tried to repress the social phenomenon of the violent insurrection in December with the reckless and mass use of teargas to the extent of torture, the beating of protestors, and their swift imprisonment. Anyway, it is known for years now that the cops, especially when dealing with anarchists demos, unleash chemical warfare with the slightest pretext so they can torture people. Despite the vicious repression of December’s insurrectionary violence, it continues to persist and is proof that the fire that was lit cannot be put out. After all Alexis’ murder was the cause and at the same time the pretext for the outbreak of social rage.

As always, a special role was taken on by mass media and the lowlife journalists brought their propaganda to the limit of vileness. After the state murder of Alexis, they reported about the widespread destruction in the whole of Greece and that the police made no arrests. I believe that the fact that all of us imprisoned for the insurrection face the same charges is no coincidence. The line from the state was exactly the same for nearly all of us.

Inside prison, time is the worst enemy. Especially when you are in custody awaiting trial there is a continuous uncertainty as you never know exactly when you are going to be released. This is a situation that definitely wears you down psychologically. This is also an effect of being locked up against your will with four people for 14 hours a day in a 9 square meter cell designed to fit only one person. It is especially felt when relationships of camaraderie or even of understanding are rare as they are outside the prison bars. Of course there are always those who choose to stand in dignity and struggle.

Incarceration is an everyday psychological warfare enforced upon you by the system when you are in prison. On top of this you also have the screws usually treating prisoners who take part in struggles (hunger strikes, refusal of prison food, demanding their printed material from the censorship) in a derogatory and sly way. One typical example is the last time prisoners were refusing prison food as a protest for the murder of Alexis, the warden of the wing came in together with other screws and threatened the prisoners taking part in the protest with disciplinary prison transfers.

Generally, when you are not subjugated to their correctional system they try to create a climate of fear. Anyway prison is like a large melting pot of souls. If you are a coward it will mince you up and make you even more of a coward but if you are tough it will make you even tougher and colder as a person. The cell makes the prisoner suffocate. Outside in the prison yard is the illusion of freedom…

Still through all of this nothing has ended, the struggle continues

Those who are right are the rebels
not the snitches and those who bow down
(a popular greek anarchist chant)

With every passing day, a new article about the recent death of a comrade in France appears in the bourgeois press. The story uncoils piece by piece. We will keep on following the events, therefore keep an eye on our website, as soon as any updates are available, they will be published there. For the ones, who speak French, are not in prison and have access to Internet, we recommend the website for the anarchist publication “Cette Semaine”, www.cettesemaine.free.fr (which is always worth reading). These words were written around the 15th of May.

New antiterrorist investigations in France –
death of a comrade, serious injury of another

We have tried to write down these few thoughts but we find it extremely difficult to express our feelings by words. However, we try it, especially since these facts have not yet been made public.

At the beginning of May, we had to read sad news on a few French websites. During the night of the 1st of May, one comrade, Zoe, 24 years old, died in unclear circumstances while she was handling nitrium chlorate (a substance which can be adopted in order to build explosive devices or smokebombs – depending on how it is mixed).
Her friend, Mickäel, suffered serious injuries and is now in an artificial coma in the intensive care department of Lyon Hospital, where he was brought by a helicopter.
What will happen to him, in the case that he might wake again, is still unclear.
The cops are already waiting without patience in the hospital and the vultures of the press are working to construct the figures of two “terrorists, who probably belong to the anarcho-autonomous movement”.

At the time of the incident, both comrades were in an abandoned factory in Cognin, which lies in the surroundings of Chambery. They have been described by the press as “persons close to the libertarian milieu”. As we had to read on the newspapers, Mickäel has been active in Switzerland and was living in the squat “La Tour” in Geneva until its eviction in 2007. Zoe has also a history linked to squatting. Regarding Zoe, the authorities complain that “(they) did not find anything but her participation in a few political demonstrations”. On monday the 4th of May, their living environment, the squat “Les Pilots” in Chambery (a city close to Grenoble) was raided by 130 cops, antiterrorist units among them, with a brief to “find any kind of evidence”.
The eleven people who found themselves in the squat at this moment have been interrogated.
One of them, Raphael, was brought for a longer time to the police station. In fact, one can be kept up to 144 hours (six days) under the anti-terror law. Finally, he was transfered to prison after his interrogation by the judge responsible. As per usual, the investigations are now centered around “membership in an association of wrongdoers in contact with a terrorist association” and “destruction of documents or objects which could have a link to crimes or offences”.
Raphael is accused of destroying a few documents related to the explosion in Cognin. Moreover, they suggest the squat “Les Pilots” should get evicted, in order to restore the order in the city. Since then two other squats have been raided and more people have been interrogated.
A quote from a communique’ of the squat “Les Pilots”:”(…) There is a big chance for this event to be utilised by the State, in order to build further the “inner enemy”, the new “anarcho-autonomous cell”, now so fashionable and a psychosis en vogue. This will lead to the application of new security measures, especially now in regards to the upcoming European elections (…).
Also for us, this story is not yet finished. Indeed, we are waiting for the next GAV ((“Gard a vue”, when one is arrested and awaits to see the judge to confirm or not the pretrial detention, can be up to 144 hours), we do not know yet what they look for and what point they are ready to go.
It has been said, that they would look as well for an “older man” who is suspected to have been there on that night in Cognin. (…).”
The magistrate who has the investigation in her hands is partly involved in the investigations against the so called “Tarnac 9”.
Raphael has been transferred to the prison of Paris “La Sante” after he came before the judge.
He sits now in the same wing as Julien Coupat, the last prisoner of the “Tarnac 9”.
In Chambery, a support committee has been called together for Raphael and a solidarity demonstration for him took place with the participation of 200 people.

Up until this point these are the facts we are aware of.

In general, it remains quite difficult to understand what is going on in France, since there have not been yet any texts translated into other languages and it seems a certain “dormancy” surrounds the events.
We got the largest part of our information from the bourgeois press, a thing we do not really like, since to us the words of our comrades are clearly much more trustful.
Above all, we would wish to read more communiques which take a stand on the death of a comrade and the serious injuries of another. In fact, most of the texts published which we have been able to read (clearly this does not mean that we read them all) declare “we are not terrorists” (a quote from the “Les Pilots” squat) and concentrate on the attempted criminalization of other comrades by the State and its anti-terror troops. Certainly, we also declare the latter. It is important and necessary.
In fact, we do know who the real terrorists are and where they sit in all commodity: police stations, tribunals, parliaments and so on.

We find it quite sad the fact that we have been able to find only a few words spent on both comrades. Perhaps there remains little time to concentrate on them, especially when the State wraps those with any links to the two comrades immediately in repression. Surely, their closer comrades must be in a state beyond “shock” and we can understand when they do not feel like speaking a word in the public.

But what is with all the others? We are quite shocked by the death of a comrade and the serious injuries to another, and we do not want to stay in silence before this…
Here, from the distance, we find ourselves in a rather “privileged” position.
Therefore, with these words we do not aim to “condemn” the behavior of the comrades there.
In fact, as we have already said, we know so little about the situation, that we feel we can say very little about it, besides expressing some of the emotional impressions produced by such an event.

Also, what one should not forget here, is that through a poor flux of information stemming directly from the “scene”, which would involve the usage of the existing autonomous medias, one makes the spreading of information and ideas the responsibility of the bourgeois medias.
Such a monopoly will always be used in a way which will put us under a bad and defamatory light, certain information will be left on the side and false information filled in, in order to paint certain images before the populace. Therefore it is necessary to use our own medias so that we, as comrades, are not forced to be dependent on the bourgeois press.

Do we know the comrades?
Probably not, but that is not the question here. Surely, it could be that we have met somewhere on the barricades in Europe during the years, or simply while eating at a popular kitchen at some no border camp, who knows. For us is of even less interest to know what both of them did that night and what they were planning. In fact, our solidarity or sorrow will not change in regards to this.
Like in the same way our bond with people who struggle against State and Capital will not change.
We hope that people will not let themselves be frightened by the difficulty of the events and that we will be able to organise together the support for the other comrade, who lies right now in hospital, in the hands of the cops, and also to effectively fight back any act of repression which could take place any time soon.
Clearly, the authorities will not loose such an event from their field of vision and will keep on trying to push us into a “defensive” position by new investigations.

Let us show them, that our revolt is unstoppable and that we are able to organise a new attack against the existent, despite being pushed in a defensive position. As we have often done in the past.

The best way to mourn Zoe and support Mickäel remain the furthering of the struggle against the present conditions. We are not able to write down more, since one can not really express the sadness of the event by words or combatant slogans.

Raphaels adress:

In mourning for Zoe,
Our thoughts are with Mickäel and all those who mourn with us,
Solidarity to Raphael
Solidarity to all prisoners

Amadeu Casellas has been locked up in Catalunya for over 22 years, and in that time he has been active in the struggles of prisoners of the Spanish State. He is currently being held for longer than the law permits, and last year carried out a 76 day hunger strike that ended with the prison authorities promising to begin his release process.

Five days after beginning his hunger strike, Amadeu Casellas finds himself in a delicate situation, his health is deteriorating faster than he had anticipated, and in just five days he has lost 7 kilos of bodymass.

The decision to go on hungerstrike comes after seeing how the DGSP (General Direction of Penitentiary Services) as well as the direction of the prison and the treatment team of MR-4 at Brians II (prison in Catalunya) are failing to live up to their promises: giving Amadeu a furlough (permitted release) of 3 days first, and then beginning his transfer to open prison so he can eventually be released from prison.

The DGSP, the prison, and the treatment teams, once more, are not completing their promises and are also organizing another frame-up in order to create more obstacles to Amadeu’s release. Amadeu is faced with a new petition from the State Attorney for 8 years of prison, under the false accusation of trying to smuggle drugs into the prison.

On previous occasions they have already tried accusing him of similar things, but the accusations always fell apart.

For all these reasons, Amadeu is beginning a new hungerstrike, starting April 20, demanding his freedom. At this moment, the solicitation for a first furlough from medium security prison is in the judge’s office, and she can resolve this solicitation favorably, even if the treatment team recommends against the furlough.

It should also be mentioned that the DGSP have always had the possibility to grant Amadeu a temporary release of 48 hours, which does not depend on the decision of the judge, yet they have never opted to grant it. For this reason we consider the DGSP, the prison directorate of Brians II, and his treatment team are the most responsible for Amadeu’s current situation.

For all these reasons we request active solidarity with compañero Amadeu, in whatever form each individual finds to be most opportune.

As the majority now will know, since the 20th [of April] I am again on hunger strike for the farce they have maintained during these last 7 months, the jailers, or better said, the hit-men of the Spanish and Catalan state which keeps me sequestered breaching their own laws.

We all know that we have two classes of justice, that of the rich and that of the workers. For the rich their fascist constitution and more concretely, articles 10-14-15-24 & 25. They speak of dignity and of inviolable rights, the norms relative to the fundamental rights and to the liberties which the constitution recognizes in conformity with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the international treaties and accords about the same materials ratified by Spain.

They also say that we are all equal before the law. Nothing more far from the reality. We all have the right to life and to physical and moral integrity , without in any case being submitted to tortures, or to penalties or inhuman or degrading treatments. Ideological freedom is guaranteed, the presumption of innocence is guaranteed, and finally, the penalties depriving liberty are to be orientated towards reeducation and social reinsertion. But all this is facade to the international image of a fascist state as is the Catalan and Spanish one.

In the last times, we have seen how they have uncovered mossos d’esquadra, policia national and guardia civil, for tortures, corruption, white slavery, extortion and drug trafficking, but curiously, in a collective so large as that of the jails and their jailers, and I don’t refer only to those that wear a uniform, but from the politicians in charge to the last members of the treatment teams, there’s not torturers, corrupted, traffickers, or anything of the kind. In appearance they’re perfect, they’re perfect because they function like what they are, a mafia family that doesn’t permit that anything appears in the public light, not either permitting anybody enter in this world so dark to be able to see the reality. Who controls these mafiosos? The answer is simple, nobody.

But this is a problem that touches everybody and when I say everybody, I refer to those that belong to those of the second class, because the rich don’t have problems, for the rest it’s a problem that now all of us can see as in the last years, all the laws are repressive and just as such any of you could be the next to fatten the jails.

The solution is in your hands with actions against this fascist state and at an international level protest each one as they believe is most convenient in front of everyone that which symbolizes Catalonia and Spain as a fascist state that violates human rights in a systematic manner.
For my part as protest for my situation of captivity of which I am suffering, I newly put my life at stake until my freedom. Lastly, I want to declare two points for those that put me on hunger strike in June of 2008 and for those I accuse, in April of the same year, of falsifying notices that were sent to J.V.P. Nº1 and to the very Audiencia de Barcelona, by the treatment team of the Quatre Camins prison. The first was because they accused me of a violation that never existed, and the second because they accused me of multiple drug addictions, something which is completely false. For these deeds I publicly accuse them of committing the crime of falsity in documents.

Salud y anarquía.

After more than 7 months since leaving the last hunger strike that lasted 77 days, I make this refection and evaluation.

Salud Comrades!

The strategies that are maintained by motives of politics and force, from the Dirección General, with personalities like Jordi Torres, who was one of those responsible for what started the last hunger strike, because he was the subdirector of treatment of the Quatre Camins jail and for this, had to have known that the treatment team of the MR-3 was sending false notices, as much to JVP nº 1, as to the very Audiencia Provincial of Barcelona, now results that is found in the DGSP, I suppose like a prize for the services lended in Quatre Camins, for what I understand I have a direct enemy in the very Dirección General, for that which is evident is that it is one of those that is against my release from jail.

On the other hand, the majority know that in this jail in which I am, Brians 2, there has been produced more than 25 deaths in strange circumstances, in less than two years which it’s been open. Of all these deaths, I consider the most responsible to be the council of Justice of Catalonia, the general secretary of prisons Albert Batlle, the controllers of this jail and the treatment teams which are those that with their false promises, deceptions, etc, demotivate and morally sink many prisoners with this sad result of deaths.

In my case, during this time, i’ve seen how they wanted to manipulate me, asking for me to process one request to the CAS, in which I had to put that I have had a problem of drug relapses, to which I denied for being false. Also I see that the manner is sought for going about enlarging my instance in the jail. I had to have signed the Individual Treatment Program (P.I.T.), by 10-03-2009 at the latest, but I signed it 2-04-09. In this P.I.T., is considered that I have to leave with permissions, but without putting either the day, or hour, only saying that in this trimester which is supposed to be that which started 10-03-09, I believe that the patience that I have had has been long, but everything must have an end and not to be enlarging that which follows in the jail, for what I consider, that day 20 now will have passed the half of this trimester and I at least must have the day and hour of release, on the contrary, I have to think that it’s a new pulling of the leg or maybe they hope that i’ll kill myself, but withou going further, if they want my blood, then they come to seek it. THE HUNGER STRIKE WILL LAST UNTIL I’M OUT OF JAIL.

There won’t be any other type of agreement, if anything happens to me, the directors responsible will be Montserrat Tura, Albert Batlle, the controllers of this jail and, I suppose the treatment team.

With all this panorama which awaits me, if before 20th of April they haven’t given me the day and hour, I have to ask that this communique is distributed in various languages on the internet, so that all the anarchist groups at the international level, the antisystem groups, the Maulets Catalan independentists, those of the Basque Country and those of all the groups of Spain, with the CNT-AIT (IWA), of Human Rights and Against Torture, help me in the manner in which each one believes most opportune, because I believe that for more than myself I passed months in hunger strike, without you I will not succeed. Also I ask the involvement of the political parties of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya(ERC) [Republican Left of Catalonia] and Iniciativa Catalunya-Verds (ICV) [Catalan Green Initiative],and hope that between all, we will obtain my release as and like it says in their own penitentiary, penal, and constitutional laws.

Salud y Anarquía.

On the 2nd of April, prisoners destroyed the new isolation unit in the prison of Brugge (Belgium). This new isolation unit was opened almost ten months ago and apparently didn’t reach it’s objective to break the spirit of rebellion amongst certain prisoners (see our previous communications for more information). The riot and destructions obliged the prison directories to close the new unit down.
Nothing is over, everything continues.

The prison is nothing more than a reflection of the society in which we live. A society that resembles a great prison in which the majority of the population are locked up because of the necessity to find money, because of the lack of perspective in life, because of roles of submission and servitude that are being imposed by the ruling values. Just like in the street there are people in the prisons, psychiatric institutions, detention centres who do not come to peace with this, that do not burry a certain taste for freedom, for a better life, because the judge imposes that. People that refuse the humiliation every day to obey the guards and chiefs. For whom the walls and the barbwire of the prisons are not yet marked in their brains, and rather observe them as obstacles that have to be overcome. Because the punishment society gave them, through its judges, only is a consequence of a world that is based on the exploitation and obedience.

Since three years a small storm of revolt blows through the tens of Belgian prisons and detention centres. By rising up, by burning the prisons infrastructure, by attacking guards, by escaping, some prisoners found back what the system tried to take from them period: courage, a desire for freedom, a rebellion that dreams of finishing with at least a part of the mess this society brings.

Answering to this, the State opened two new isolation units in Brugge and Lantin, real prisons inside the prison, to be able to better isolate and break the ‘unruly’. But even in these cages, some haven’t lost the taste of combat. On the 2nd of April 2009, prisoners in Brugge have flooded the cells of this unit after which they smashed the unit almost completely. On the moment that the government is announcing its plans to construct seven new prisons, they are obliged to close down their showpiece, the isolation unit in Brugge. The prison machine isn’t that well oiled as it seems.

Strength and courage for all those who fight for freedom, inside and outside!
Let us, we as well, attack everything which is locking us up, exploiting us and oppressing us!

The trial against Giorgos Voutsis-Voutgiatzis, concerning a bank robbery in 2006, started Wednesday the 1st of April in the court of Athens. The charges against him were armed robbery and posession of explosives (a handgrenade was found on him at the arrest).
About 100 people gathered outside the building in solidarity, only 15 of them were allowed inside by the cops, wich caused some little disturbances from time to time on the stairs to the entrance.

A jury (that in Greece advices the courts verdict, but is not decisive) that was composed of only employees of the bank that was robbed was presented first, and witnesses heard all during the first day.

On Thursday the second of April, eventually the verdict for the robbery resulted in 7 years of imprisonment, and one year for possession of explosives, resulting in 8 years in total. Considering the fact that Giorgos had already spend 18 months in pre-arrest, and worked inside (one day of work equals 2 days in prison), a substantial amount of time is reduced from the final verdict. This, in combination with the 3/5 partial time that one spends for the punishment given, means that Giorgos has to spend another 6 months in prison from now on. He will be transferred to Korydallos prison in Athens, and free in September.
During the first day of trial, the nerves and emotions over the prosecution of a comrade were errupted with joy when it was discovered that two prisoners on trial in the next door building, managed to escape. Most of the overwhelming amounts of (undercover, riot and prison) police were so intensely focussed on the growing group of anarchists outside building 13, that two freedom loving birds spread their wings and flew.

“With violence as a structural part, the system organizes the ignorance and fortifies itself from its deniers. Violence is everywhere. It is in the *peitharxika, in the penalties and in the isolation cells. In the city plan and in the war. In the news and in the commercials. In the murderous police and in the environmental looting. In the video games and in the juvenile correction institutions.

How much, mister president, does your democracy says that the life of a robber costs, and much the life of a police man? How much does the life of a prisoner cost in your modern Greek democracy and how much the life of a prison manage? How much does the life of a reputable judge cost and how much the life of the poor devil immigrant? Obviously the value of a human life gets a different meaning when the dead is a defender of the ruling class. But the bullets cost the same.“
Giorgos Voutsis-Vogiatzis

WE SHOULD ARM OURSELVES WITH ALL THE STRENGTH OF OUR EXISTENCE

The days of the bloodless assent, of promising, of understanding and of compliance seem to be further and further away. The dictatorship of economy incubates the silence by using guns. The murderers with machine guns that are in every corner, the wealth of the bosses behind the security doors and the security guards, the anti depressive medication to advertise happiness, the hosts of the news that demand the fear…

NOTHING KILLS MORE DETERMINED BUT TO JUST BE SATISFIED WITH SURVIVAL.

We feel it for a long time. We knew it well. December confirmed it to us. To the edge. There is no life without serenity behind the barricades, away from the crumbled pavements, the fires inside the shopping centers, the looting of a super market, the leap behind the cassier of a bank…

FREEDOM FOR THE ANARCHIST GIORGOS VOUTSIS-VOGIATZIS
WHO IS DEMANDED IN COURT ON THE 1ST AND 2ND OF APRIL 2009

*The punishments and repercussions in court that prisoners get for disobedience and misbehavior inside the prisons, after already having been convicted.

While most people try to enjoy their holidays, the temperature inside the cells of the Belgian democracy hasn’t lowered. For two years now, prisoners have broken the routine of the incarceration machine with collective and individual revolts, occupations, escapes…The latest facts speak for themselves once more.

At the beginning of July, an uprising broke out in the closed asylum centre of Steenokkerzeel, one of the real camps from which the State deports those who are not wanted. Five recalcitrant prisoners were black-bagged by the Special Intervention Squad and sent off to other camps. In the middle of July, two prisoners climbed onto the roof of the closed asylum centre of Merksplas to protest against the circumstances inside the centre. Meanwhile two wings of the centre revolted. Two police charges crushed the revolt. The same day, a prisoner in Turnhout jail set fire to his cell which damaged the whole corridor. Five days later, two young prisoners captured a guard in Leuven prison. They demanded freedom. After they released her, they barricaded themselves in the library and lit a fire. A raid by the Special Intervention Unit restored order. Both men were transferred to Leuven’s second prison and put in isolation. On the last day of July, prisoners of the Merksplas prison refused to return to their cells. Some were armed with knives and sticks and barricaded themselves in a wing. They destroyed the prison furniture and set fire to the barricade, causing smoke damage to the whole wing. At night time, the Special Intervention Team managed to overpower them and the riot cops restored order.

Facing so much liberating violence, the State remained very quiet while they let their lackeys start another indoctrination wave. Rebellious prisoners are hostage takers, blackmailers, violent lunatics, and, why not, terrorists. Even though the weight of alienation and exploitation almost smothers our intellectual capacity, a few questions suffice to explain what it’s all about.

WHO ARE THE HOSTAGE TAKERS?

All the newspaper headlines screamed of the ‘hostage taking of guards’ while covering the action of the two prisoners from Leuven. But what is a prison other than a permanent hostage taking of thousands of people by the State? What are the judges other than the hostage takers receiving blood money from their masters? The demand from the biggest hostage taker, the State, towards the hostages and the rest of the population is very simple: accept your part in the system. Accept that you will always have to work to make the rich even richer, accept that misery and subjection is your faith. Accept that in life, there are winners and losers. The winners are those who, protected by laws and police, make money on our backs. The losers are we whom the system constantly tries to force to accept this world. And losers we will remain as long as we don’t stand up and fight. As every prisoner knows very well, the only way to keep your head high and remain yourself inside the grey walls of democracy is to take up confrontation with the prison authorities, with the thousand-and-one means the revolt provides us.

WHO ARE THE LUNATICS?

The rebels who climbed onto the roof of the deportation camp of Merksplas and the interned rebels who lit the prison infrastructure with the fire of freedom were portrayed as ‘lunatics’. But aren’t the ‘lunatics’ those who try to sell us a life of television and boredom? Aren’t the ‘lunatics’ those who destroy our environment with their office buildings, their High Speed Trains, their nuclear plants, their unliveable house blocks? Aren’t the ‘lunatics’ those who expose us daily to the harmful radiation of mobile phone pylons and wireless internet connections, to the poisonous emissions of their chemical factories? But their ‘insanity’ is not blind, it is rational: the thought-out and purposeful planning of the deadly project of gaining more and more profit.

WHO ARE THE BLACKMAILERS?

The new magic word of those in power is to qualify the conflict that takes place in the different kinds of prisons and in the streets as ‘blackmail’. A conflict, in which the rebels do not restrict themselves to the democratic rules of the game that are made to maintain the existing order, is ‘blackmail’. The occupation of several cranes in Brussels to denounce the deportation machine is, according to the politicians, just ‘blackmail’. Social struggle can never be blackmail or terrorism, the blackmailers are elsewhere. It’s the banks that suck us dry with loans we need to survive. It’s the bosses who threaten us with possible dismissal if we don’t accept their tyranny. It’s the State that blackmails us with prison sentences if we don’t accomodate ourselves to its thirst for domination. The powerful of this world know very well that, when this blackmail gets rejected by those who won’t take it anymore, something is at stake for them. In such moments, we find back the strength that is hidden within ourselves; only through social struggle and revolt, the blackmails of this world lose their enchantment.

WHO ARE THE VIOLENT ONES?

In Belgium, every year 200 people die in their workplace. Every year, dozens of prisoners die behind bars or during deportations. Every year, dozens of people get shot by the cops, like recently in the city of Charleroi. At least the third time in six months, a car thief got executed by the police with several bullets in the head. The daily violence of the State, authority and capitalism knows no boundaries. When they portray our revolt as ‘violent’, it only makes us smile. When they claim that social struggle is ‘terrorism’, we see through them, we know that they say this to present their terrorism this system of money, prisons, police, borders, internment, misery,…- as the best of possible worlds. Far away from the illusion that things will change with voting, with begging to politicians, with formulating demands and handing over petitions, we put forward that the social struggle will only become ours when we decide for ourselves how we want to shape it. By organising outside of unions, political parties, and institutions, by choosing how we want to hit the enemy outside the categories of ‘legal’ and ‘illegal’. Opposing the violence of this system, we put forwards the revolt in all its forms. That’s why it fills us with joy when prisoners burn their cells, saw through the bars and try to escape, when they refuse to say any longer ‘Thank you boss’ to the uniform that locks their cell day after day.

We have to refuse everywhere possible the blackmails of this system and fight the terrorism based on dominance and exploitation. May there be no more revolts, not a single one, that stay isolated within the prison walls, behind the barbed wire of closed asylum centres, behind the fences of a factory on strike, within the boundaries of a rebellious neighbourhood, in the cabin of a crane!

SOLIDARITY WITH THE STRUGGLE AGAINST ALL PRISONS AND DEPORTATION CAMPS

FREEDOM FOR ALL

NO WALL HIGH ENOUGH FOR THE REBELLION

NO ENEMY TOO WELL PROTECTED AGAINST THE REVOLT

Shortly after, the police arrested the 26 year old anarchist Ilias Nikolau, who does not live far from there. Ilias was, together with Dimitra Sirianou and Kostakis Halazas, subject of an arrest warrant for over a year, concerning the same case as Vaggelis Botzatzis (on the accusation of several arsons). Vaggelis was released on conditions on October 13th 2008. On November 14th, during the agitations with the hunger strike in Greek prisons, the 3 others went to the commissariat of Thessalonica, accompanied by some hundred comrades. The day after, the judge decided to let them await their trial in freedom. Currently Ilias is accused for “explosion” (felony), “production” and “accomplishment” (misdemeanours). Ilias does not acknowledge the accusations, nor admits “having been caught red handed”. The police raided his parent’s house, the place where he works, and stormed the house of his grandmother out of the city. Ilias was brought to the prison of Amfissa, this is a letter he wrote:

In the morning of January 13th I was arrested in the west of Thessalonica, on the accusation of an explosion that took place at the commissariat of the municipal police. This happened a year after, an incredible accusation was created against me and three of my comrades in November 2007. That accusation put one of us in prison, and made three others escape. The witch hunt has started. We have lived through a considerably warm December and a situation that shows the lack of social peace clearly. Social peace only lives in the imagination of those that cannot understand that reality is characterized by a permanent civil war. With a revolutionary side that rebels against this democratic monstrosity. Rage replaced fear and instead of approval, negation appeared. The month of December, as a sign for times to come, made a very clear devision between those that feed the Power, maintain and defend it, and those that fight it. Now is not the time to look back in nostalgia to the ashes that the insurrection left on its path. We have to understand and express the signs of the present and the future. The signs that already exist, and those to come. The signs of a relentless social war. If we want that moments of negation, revolt and dignity are lived, we have to arm our hands and our desires, determined and organized. I resist against those who think that manifestations and pacifist protest will make a difference, because they’re already dead. They drag their corpses along the streets, in the unions and in the luxurious offices of their bosses. I take place on the side of those who are led by dignity and I join with those who feel the unchangeable will to disrupt and to destroy this enormous cemetery. The prison is an added step to a rebel. A step towards imprisonment. To all those who think that they have overcome me, that they have overcome us…

For me and my comrades it works just the other way around! Because as long as there are prisoners of war, we will continue to struggle. I send warm and rebellious greetings to my comrades and to revolutionaries everywhere.

Freedom for all prisoners of the revolt. Freedom for Yiannis Dimitrakis, Polis Georgiadis and Yiorgous Voutsi-Vogiatzis and all the hostages of democracy.

Day of action – Freedom for Natalja! Freedom for all prisoners!

On Saturday, February 9th 2008 Natalja was arrested during the yearly demonstration against the NATO-Security-Conference in Munich (Germany). They accused her of resisting violently against police measures. A warrant was issued against her and since then she is in Munich behind bars.
Natalja already was arrested during the G8-summit at summer 2007 in Germany and was sentenced to ten months of imprisonment. Furthermore she has a third trial because of being arrested at a demonstration at may 1th at the same year.

„For me, the imprisonment started with a kind of shock which slowly vanished. It is replaced by a condition of permanent grief in the background covered by a lot of tiredness, boredom and exhaustion.“ (Natalja)

On March 30th 2008 the trial against Natalja at the district court of Munich took place. She got five months of imprisonment without probation. (Natalja already got a total penalty of eleven months in Rostock because of the G8-protest and resistance on may 1st 2007, besides she got two months of suspended sentence because of antifascist resistance in Gräfenberg, which she has to serve now, too). Meanwhile, her arrest was shortened by 28 days.

„However I request – it should not sound snooty – to formulate all this a bit combative / defiant / ‚more than ever‘, so that national intimidation propaganda is not spread inadvertently thereby. Nobody should be discouraged and certainly not ‚brainwashed‘ on my account.“ (Natalja)

The imprisonment was shaped by repression and harassment. Apart from the attempt of „infiltrating“ a plain-clothes policewomen in her cell, Natalja was refused to get her post because it had political contents. On December 11th 2008 she was forced to sample a DNA-assay by using violence.
Out of her imprisonment Natalja took part in different demonstrations and meetings like the demonstration under the slogan „The system is criminal and not the resistance!“ by speech contributions and texts.

„The prison is said to intimidate, reeducate, criminalise and exclude… – And it presents itself each day, how unfair, inhuman, discriminating and destructive the ruling system is […]
Did the prison-system would function only one day long without the forced under-lowest work of the prisoners in the institutes?
Would prisons be maintained without the command and – obedience hierarchy of the execution people, by whom the repression of the prisoners is practically converted by the state daily?
Did a fair, free society would need prisons at all as instrument of class rule and as means, in order to divide exploited social classes by criminalization?
The experience of repression may also be horrible, but the experience of solidarity is much impressing and encouraging! Both encourages me in the conviction: Resistance against the ruling system is necessary. Nevertheless nothing shows as clearly as the coveringness, brutality and presumptuous increase of national repression that the system obviously has much fear before the social movement and active entering against fascism, racism and war!“ (Natalja)

June 6th 2009 is a day Natalja surely longs for and not only she herself… Because on this day Natalja will finally released.
Up to then it is still a long time. The fights in the prisons must further be developed and supported. Masshungerstrikes in the prisons in Europe and an organizing of antiprison-structures outside are a beginning.
On weekend from February 6th until 8th days of action in solidarity with Natalja and all prisoners in struggle will take place. It is the weekend of the resistance against the NATO-war-conference (officially called Security-Conference), the weekend when Natalja was arrested nearly one year ago.

„This is a meeting of political leaders, military representatives and members of the military lobby, who follows the invitation of the Quandt-Foundation. The Quandt family is the principal part owner of the BMW company, which manufactures motor vehicles, but also military equipment like vehicles and weapons. (The roots for their prosperity and influence are the chemical industry – including the exploitation of prisoners in the concentration camps during the 2nd World War). In spite of the ‚private‘ / ‚commercial‘ background of the conference, the people enjoy „the honour“ of a status as official guests of the Federal Republic of Germany. The German army (Bundeswehr) is responsible for the scene… “ (Natalja)

For all those who cannot participate in the protests against the Securityconference and the locally (Munich) organized actions in solidarity with Natalja and all prisoners in struggle, there is a calling for a decentralized weekend of action.
Let us organize in order to refuse the state including its prisons, cops, laws and military and to fight for a world without exploitation and oppression in solidarity with Natalja and all prisoners in struggle!
