Natalja wieder frei!

Am 5. Juni 2009 wurde Natalja nach über 16 Monaten in Haft entlassen. Inhaftiert wurde sie aufgrund einer Verurteilung in Folge der Protestaktionen gegen das Treffen der OrganisatorInnen von Krieg, Tod und Zerstörung (jährliche NATO-Sicherheitskonferenz in München) im Jahr 2008, sowie Verurteilung in Folge von Festnahmen beim G8-Gipfel in Deutschland und am 1. Mai im Jahr 2007.

Natalja, wir grüßen Dich und senden solidarische Grüße und wünschen alles Gute im Kampf gegen das Bestehende.

Aktionstag – Freiheit für Natalja! Freiheit für alle Gefangenen!
Am Samstag, dem 09. Februar 2008 wurde Natalja während der Demonstration gegen die jährliche NATO-Sicherheitskonferenz in München verhaftet. Ihr wird vorgeworfen sich gewalttätig Polizeimaßnahmen widersetzt zu haben. Gegen sie wurde ein Haftbefehl erlassen und sie befindet sich seitdem in München hinter Gittern.
Natalja wurde schon während des G8-Gipfels im Sommer 2007 in Deutschland verhaftet und zu zehn Monaten Haft verurteilt. Außerdem hat sie ein drittes Verfahren, da sie bei einer Demonstration am 1. Mai des selben Jahres festgenommen wurde.

„Für mich begann die Gefangenschaft mit einer Art Schock, der langsam verschwindet. Er wird ersetzt durch einen Zustand der dauerhaften Betrübnis, die ist jedoch, eher im Hintergrund und wird mit einer starken Schicht Müdigkeit, Langeweile und Erschöpfung bedeckt.“ (Natalja)

Am 30.04.2008 fand vor dem Amtsgericht München der Prozess gegen Natalja statt. Das Urteil lautete fünf Monate Freiheitsstrafe ohne Bewährung. (Natalja hat schon in Rostock für den G8-Protest und Widerstand am 1. Mai 2007 eine Gesamtstrafe von elf Monaten aufgebrummt bekommen, außerdem erhielt sie für antifaschistischen Widerstand in Gräfenberg eine Bewährungsstrafe von zwei Monaten, die sie jetzt auch absitzen muss.) Mittlerweile wurde ihre Haft um 28 Tage verkürzt.

„Ich habe aber die ‚Bitte‘ – die jetzt nicht großkotzig klingen soll – das Ganze ein bisschen kämpferisch / trotzig / “erst recht” – mäßig zu formulieren, damit die staatliche Einschüchterungspropaganda nicht versehentlich dabei verbreitet wird. Es soll ja niemand meinetwegen entmutigten und ganz bestimmt nicht ‚gehirnwaschen‘.“ (Natalja)

Die Haft war geprägt von Repression und Schikane. Neben dem Versuch eine Zivilfahnderin in ihre Zelle zu „schleusen“ wurde Natalja die Aushändigung ihrer Post verwehrt, da sie politische Inhalte hatte. Am 11. Dezember 2008 wurde ihr dann unter Zwang und mit Gewalt eine DNA probe entnommen.
Natalja beteiligte sich aus ihrer Gefangenschaft heraus an verschiedenen Demonstrationen und Veranstaltungen wie z.B. die Demonstration unter dem Motto „Kriminell ist das System und nicht der Widerstand!“ durch Redebeiträge und Texte.

„Der Knast soll einschüchtern, umerziehen, kriminalisieren und ausschließen… – Und er präsentiert sich jeden Tag dafür, wie ungerecht, unmenschlich, diskriminierend und destruktiv das herrschende System ist […]
Würde das Knastsystem ohne die erzwungene unterbezahlte Mitarbeit der Gefangenen in den Anstalten auch nur einen Tag lang funktionieren?
Würden sich Gefängnisse aufrechterhalten lassen ohne die Befehl- und -Gehorsam-Hierarchie der VollzugsbeamtInnen, von denen die Unterwerfung bzw. Unterdrückung der Gefangenen durch den Staat täglich praktisch umgesetzt wird?
Bräuchte eine gerechte, freie Gesellschaft überhaupt Knäste als Instrument von Klassenherrschaft und als Mittel, um ausgebeutete Gesellschaftsschichten durch Kriminalisierung zu spalten?
Wie abscheulich die Erfahrung von Repression auch sein mag, die Erfahrung von Solidarität auf der anderen Seite ist sehr beeindruckend und ermutigend! Beides bestärkt mich in der Überzeugung: Widerstand gegen das herrschende System ist nötig. Und wie viel Angst das System offenbar hat, vor der sozialen Bewegung und aktivem Eintreten gegen Faschismus, Rassismus und Krieg, zeigt doch nichts so klar wie die Überzogenheit, Brutalität und vermessene Steigerung staatlicher Repression!“ (Natalja)

Der 06.06.2009 ist ein Tag den Natalja sicherlich herbeisehnt und nicht nur sie allein… Denn an diesem Tag soll Natalja endlich entlassen werden.
Bis dahin ist es jedoch noch eine lange Zeit. Die Kämpfe in den Knästen müssen weiter aufgebaut und unterstützt werden. Massenhungerstreiks in Europas Knästen und eine Organisierung von Antiknast-Strukturen draußen sind ein Anfang.
Am Wochenende 6. bis 8. Februar werden Aktionstage in Solidarität mit Natalja und allen kämpfenden Gefangenen stattfinden. Es ist das Wochenende des Widerstandes gegen die Nato-Kriegs-Konferenz (offiziell Sicherheitskonferenz genannt), bei der Natalja vor nun fast einem Jahr festgenommen wurde.

„Dies ist ein Treffen von politischen Führern, Militärrepräsentanten und Mitgliedern der Militärlobby, welche alle der Einladung der Quandt Stiftung folgen. Die Quandt-Familie ist der Hauptanteilseigner der BMW Gesellschaft, welche Kraftfahrzeuge aber auch Militärausrüstung, wie Fahrzeuge und Waffen, herstellt. (Die Wurzeln für deren Wohlstand und Einfluss sind die chemische Industrie – einschließlich die Ausbeutung von Gefangenen der Konzentrationslager während des zweiten Weltkriegs). Trotz des ‚privaten‘/‘kommerziellen‘ Hintergrundes der Konferenz genießen die Männer und Frauen „die Ehre“ den Status als offizielle Gäste der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Die deutsche Armee (Bundeswehr) ist verantwortlich für den Schauplatz…“ (Natalja)

Für alle die, die an den Protesten gegen die Siko und an den lokal (München) organisierten Soliaktionen für Natalja und alle kämpfenden Gefangenen nicht teilnehmen können, wird zu einem dezentralen Aktionswochenende aufgerufen.
Organisieren wir uns, um dem Staat samt seiner Knäste, Bullen, Gesetzte und Militärs eine Absage zu erteilen und in Solidarität mit Natalja und allen kämpfenden Gefangenen eine Welt ohne Ausbeutung und Unterdrückung zu erkämpfen!

Day of action – Freedom for Natalja! Freedom for all prisoners!

On Saturday, February 9th 2008 Natalja was arrested during the yearly demonstration against the NATO-Security-Conference in Munich (Germany). They accused her of resisting violently against police measures. A warrant was issued against her and since then she is in Munich behind bars.
Natalja already was arrested during the G8-summit at summer 2007 in Germany and was sentenced to ten months of imprisonment. Furthermore she has a third trial because of being arrested at a demonstration at may 1th at the same year.

„For me, the imprisonment started with a kind of shock which slowly vanished. It is replaced by a condition of permanent grief in the background covered by a lot of tiredness, boredom and exhaustion.“ (Natalja)

On March 30th 2008 the trial against Natalja at the district court of Munich took place. She got five months of imprisonment without probation. (Natalja already got a total penalty of eleven months in Rostock because of the G8-protest and resistance on may 1st 2007, besides she got two months of suspended sentence because of antifascist resistance in Gräfenberg, which she has to serve now, too). Meanwhile, her arrest was shortened by 28 days.

„However I request – it should not sound snooty – to formulate all this a bit combative / defiant / ‚more than ever‘, so that national intimidation propaganda is not spread inadvertently thereby. Nobody should be discouraged and certainly not ‚brainwashed‘ on my account.“ (Natalja)

The imprisonment was shaped by repression and harassment. Apart from the attempt of „infiltrating“ a plain-clothes policewomen in her cell, Natalja was refused to get her post because it had political contents. On December 11th 2008 she was forced to sample a DNA-assay by using violence.
Out of her imprisonment Natalja took part in different demonstrations and meetings like the demonstration under the slogan „The system is criminal and not the resistance!“ by speech contributions and texts.

„The prison is said to intimidate, reeducate, criminalise and exclude… – And it presents itself each day, how unfair, inhuman, discriminating and destructive the ruling system is […]
Did the prison-system would function only one day long without the forced under-lowest work of the prisoners in the institutes?
Would prisons be maintained without the command and – obedience hierarchy of the execution people, by whom the repression of the prisoners is practically converted by the state daily?
Did a fair, free society would need prisons at all as instrument of class rule and as means, in order to divide exploited social classes by criminalization?
The experience of repression may also be horrible, but the experience of solidarity is much impressing and encouraging! Both encourages me in the conviction: Resistance against the ruling system is necessary. Nevertheless nothing shows as clearly as the coveringness, brutality and presumptuous increase of national repression that the system obviously has much fear before the social movement and active entering against fascism, racism and war!“ (Natalja)

June 6th 2009 is a day Natalja surely longs for and not only she herself… Because on this day Natalja will finally released.
Up to then it is still a long time. The fights in the prisons must further be developed and supported. Masshungerstrikes in the prisons in Europe and an organizing of antiprison-structures outside are a beginning.
On weekend from February 6th until 8th days of action in solidarity with Natalja and all prisoners in struggle will take place. It is the weekend of the resistance against the NATO-war-conference (officially called Security-Conference), the weekend when Natalja was arrested nearly one year ago.

„This is a meeting of political leaders, military representatives and members of the military lobby, who follows the invitation of the Quandt-Foundation. The Quandt family is the principal part owner of the BMW company, which manufactures motor vehicles, but also military equipment like vehicles and weapons. (The roots for their prosperity and influence are the chemical industry – including the exploitation of prisoners in the concentration camps during the 2nd World War). In spite of the ‚private‘ / ‚commercial‘ background of the conference, the people enjoy „the honour“ of a status as official guests of the Federal Republic of Germany. The German army (Bundeswehr) is responsible for the scene… “ (Natalja)

For all those who cannot participate in the protests against the Securityconference and the locally (Munich) organized actions in solidarity with Natalja and all prisoners in struggle, there is a calling for a decentralized weekend of action.
Let us organize in order to refuse the state including its prisons, cops, laws and military and to fight for a world without exploitation and oppression in solidarity with Natalja and all prisoners in struggle!

Solidarität ist eine Waffe!

Am Samstag, dem 09. Februar wurde Natalja während der Demonstration gegen die jährliche NATO-Sicherheitskonferenz in München verhaftet. Ihr wird vorgeworfen sich gewalttätig Polizeimassnahmen widersetzt zu haben. Gegen sie wurde ein Haftbefehl erlassen und sie befindet sich seit dem in München hinter Gittern. Natalja wurde schon während des G8-Gipfels im letzten Sommer in Deutschland verhaftet und zu zehn Monaten Haft verurteilt. Außerdem hat sie ein drittes Verfahren, da sie bei der letztjährigen Demonstration zum 1. Mai festgenommen wurde. So wie es aussieht wird sie eine längere Zeit im Knast verbringen müssen. Am 30. April wird sie ihren Prozess im München haben.

Auszüge aus einem Brief, den sie aus dem Knast heraus schrieb:

Ich ging nach München, um an den Protesten gegen die Nato Kriegs Konferenz (offiziel Sicherheitskonferenz genannt), welche jährlich im Februar stattfindet, teilzunehmen. Dies ist ein Treffen von politischen Führern, Militärrepräsentanten und Mitgliedern der Militärlobby, welche alle der Einladung der Quandt Stiftung folgen. Die Quandt-Familie ist der Hauptanteilseigner der BMW Gesellschaft, welche Kraftfahrzeuge aber auch Militärausrüstung, wie Fahrzeuge und Waffen, herstellt. (Die Wurzeln für deren Wohlstand und Einfluss sind die chemische Industrie – einschließlich die Ausbeutung von Gefangenen der Konzentrationslager während des zweiten Weltkriegs).

Zuallererst muss ich sagen, dass ich mich für mein eigenes passiven Verhaltens schäme: Ich bin konfrontiert mit einer künstlichen Umgebung, die gebaut worden ist um Menschen zu kontrollieren und sie zwingt sich an eine Lebensweise anzupassen, die eingefroren zu sein scheint. Das Gefängnis ist eine komplizierte Struktur von Einschüchterung, Leere, Erniedrigung und Druck.

Ich lerne über die persönliche Situation und die Probleme den anderen Insassen und erhalte ein Gefühl der Tragödien der sogenannten „illegalen MigrantInnen“, ein Gefühl dafür was es bedeutet auf die Abschiebung hinter Gittern zu warten, dies ist, was viele Frauen hier tun, warten auf ihre Abschiebung, dabei sind sie isoliert und hilflos…

So ist meine Situation. – Und meine Reaktion? Ich reagiere nicht. Ich agiere nicht. Ich bin nur – und bleibe ich selbst. Aber die einzige Sache, die ich mache ist warten auf das die Zeit abläuft und versuchen die Sachen nicht zu nahe kommen zu lassen.

Für mich begann die Gefangenschaft mit einer Art Schock, der langsam verschwindet. Er wird ersetzt durch einen Zustand der dauerhaften Betrübnis, die ist jedoch, eher im Hintergrund und wird mit einer starken Schicht Müdigkeit, Langeweile und Erschöpfung bedeckt.

Im Augenblick bin ich in einer Zelle im 3. Stock und habe die Zelle für mich. Ich bin froh darüber. Allein zu sein für 22 Stunden pro Tag ist ein richtiges Problem. – Aber keine Zeit für sich selber zu haben, keine fünf Minuten für sich selber zu sein innerhalb der Monate wäre sogar ein größeres Problem für mich.

Der Tag fängt um 6 Uhr morgens an (um 7 Uhr am Wochenende). Dann schalten die Schließer das Licht an. (Es gibt keine Elektrizität innerhalb der Zellen). Die Tür bleibt verschlossen, aber wir erhalten Heißwasser oder „Kaffee“ durch eine Öffnung in der Tür, die danach wieder geschlossen wird. Um viertel vor acht wird die Tür entriegelt und die Gefangenen erhalten saubere Unterwäsche. Wir müssen die benutzte Unterwäsche zurückgeben…, also müssen wir einen Bademantel für diese Prozedur tragen.

Zwischen viertel vor zehn und viertel vor elf können wir eine Stunde an der Luft verbringen. Der Hof ist in der Mitte des Gefängnisses, damit wir nur Wände und Gitter und „ein Stück des Himmels“ und etwas grünen Gras und einen netten Baum sehen können. Unglücklicherweise müssen wir die ganze Zeit im Schatten gehen, weil das Sonnenlicht keinen Weg in den Hof findet. Ich denke, dass dies ein wenig wie eine Höhle ist.

Gegen 11 Uhr erhält jede ihr Mittagessen. Ich warte immer ungeduldig bis viertel nach drei am Nachmittag, weil dann die Tür wieder geöffnet ist – und bleibt für eine Stunde lang geöffnet: du kannst zur „nächsten Tür“ gehen und deine „NachbarInnen besuchen“. Du hast die Zeit, den Mülleimer zu leeren oder um um weiteres Toilettenpapier zu bitten…

Gefangene können nichts selbstständig organisieren. Wenn es etwas gibt, das organisiert werden muss oder wenn sie ein wichtiges Anliegen haben müssen sie ein spezielles Formular ausfüllen. – Selbstverständlich müssen sie erst um dieses Formular bitten… in unserem Fall ist die einzigste Gelegenheit dazu in dieser Stunde wenn die Zellen geöffnet sind.

Bevor unsere Türen nach 60 Minuten wieder verschlossen werden, bekommen wir Kräutertee und Nahrungsmittel für das Abendbrot und das Frühstück am nächsten Morgen. Um 10 Uhr am Abend fängt die Nacht an und die Wächter schalten das Licht aus.

Dreimal in der Woche dürfen wir duschen, dies ist eine weitere Möglichkeit für kleine Gespräche, weil wir vor dem Raum in dem die Duschen sind anstehen müssen. (Am Samstag und am Sonntag ist die Struktur des Tages zu der während des Restes der Woche ein wenig unterschiedlich).

Diese ziemlich abstrakte und formale Beschreibung ist selbstverständlich oberflächlich, aber möglicherweise gibt sie einen Eindruck…

Es ist schwer etwas über soziales Leben hier drinnen zu sagen im allgemeinen. Die „Gemeinschaft“ der eingesperrten Frauen ist voll von Kontrasten und Widersprüchen und jede der Insassen erfährt die Sozialstruktur auf ihre Weise – abhängig von der jeweiligen einzelnen Situation und Perspektive.
Es gibt eine Art starke Solidarität unter den Frauen, sowie Mobbing.
Es gibt taktische Bündnisse sowie reale Freundschaft.

Jede ist auf gewisse Weise einsam. Fast alle Frauen verstecken die meisten ihrer Gefühle – und sehnen sich danach verstanden zu werden. Es gibt eine Menge Sozialdruck, Vortäuschen stark zu sein und Gefühle für sich selbst zu behalten; niemand möchte an ihre eigene tiefe Traurigkeit erinnert werden und ihre eigene Sorgen (z.B. über ihre Kinder, die jetzt von ihrer Mutter getrennt werden). Aber dies alles bedeutet NICHT auf Abstand bleiben zu einander. Die Frauen geben sich gegenseitig viel Wärme, Sympathie, Mitgefühl und Ermutigung. Wie außerhalb der Gefängnismauern sind materielle Bedürfnisse und Hierarchien basierend auf unterschiedlichen „Wohlstand“ wichtige Faktoren.

Und letztendlich sehnt sich jede nach jeder interessanten Sache, irgendwelche Nachrichten oder eine Person, die verspricht ein Spritzer Farbe im Grau des Alltagslebens hinter Gittern zu sein.

Solidarity is a weapon – Support Natalja!

On Saturday the 9th of February, Natalja was arrested during a demonstration in München, Germany against the NATO ‘security’ conference that is held there every year in February. She’s accused of having violently resisted police measures. A judge decided that she was to be taken to the prison of München. Natalja had been previously arrested during the G8 summit in Germany last summer and got convicted to 10 months imprisonment. She also has a third trial hanging after that she was arrested on the demo on the first of May last year. It is likely that she will have to spend some time in prison. During one month, she has not had any visit. On the 30th of April, her trial will take place in München.

We publish parts of a letter she recently wrote from prison.

I went to Munich (the ‘capital’ of the state of Bavaria in southern Germany – known for the traditional ‘Oktoberfest’…) to join the protest against the Nato war conference (officially called Security Conference) which takes place in Munich every year in February. It is a meeting of political leaders, military representatives and members of the arms lobby, who all follow the invitation of the Quandt foundation. The Quandt family is main shareholder of the BMW Corporation, a company producing cars but also military equipment like vehicles and arms. (The roots of their wealth and influence were in chemical industry – including the exploitation of prisoners of a concentration camp during World War II.)

In spite of the ‘private’/'commercial’ background of the conference the men and women ‘of honour’ meeting there have the status of official guests of the federal Republic of Germany. The German army (Bundeswehr) is responsible for the location…

First of all I have to say that I feel ashamed of my own damned passive behaviour: I am confronted with an artificial environment constructed to control people and forcing them to adapt to a way of life that seems to be frozen. Prison is a complex structure of intimidation, emptiness, humiliation and pressure.

I learn about the personal situation and the problems of the other inmates and get a feeling of the tragedies of the so called ‘illegal immigrants’, a feeling for what it means to wait for your deportation behind bars, which is what many women in here do, waiting for their deportation being isolated and helpless…

So this is my situation. – And my reaction? I don’t react. I don’t act. I just am – and remain myself. But the only thing I do is waiting for the time to pass and trying not to let things come too close.

For me imprisonment began with a kind of shock that is slowly disappearing. It is replaced by a state of permanent distress, which is, however, rather in the background and is covered with a thick layer of tiredness, boredom and exhaustion.

At the moment I’m in a cell in the 3rd floor and I’ve got the cell to myself. I’m glad about that. Being alone for 22 hours a day is a real problem. – But not having any time for myself, not being able to spend even 5 minutes on my own within months would be an even bigger problem for me.

The day begins at 6 o’clock in the morning (at 7 o’clock in the weekend). Then the guards switch on the light. (There is no electricity inside the cells). The door remains shut, but we get hot water or ‘coffee’ through an opening in the door, which is closed afterwards. At quarter to eight the door is unlocked and the prisoners get clean underwear. We have to give back the worn underwear at first…So we have to wear a bathrobe for this procedure.

Between quarter to ten and quarter to eleven we may spend one hour in open air. The yard is in the centre of the prison so that we can only see walls and bars and ‘a piece of sky’ and some green grass and one nice tree. Unfortunately we have to walk in the shadow all the time because the sunlight doesn’t find a way down into the yard. I think it’s a little bit like a cave.

At around 11 o’clock everybody gets their lunch. I always wait impatiently until quarter past three in the afternoon because then the door is opened again – and remains open for one hour: you can go ‘next door’ and ‘visit’ your ‘neighbours’. You have time to empty your waste-basket or ask for further toilet paper…

Prisoners can’t organise anything on their own. So if there is something that needs to be organised or if they have an important request, they have to fill in a special form. – Of course they have to ask for the form first…In our case this hour when the cells are open is usually the only occasion to do that.

Before our doors are locked again after sixty minutes we get herb tea and food for both supper and breakfast next morning. At 10 o’clock in the evening the night begins and the guards switch off the light.

We get a shower three times a week, which offers another chance for small talk because we have to queue up in front of the room where the showers are. (On Saturday and Sundays the structure of the day is a little different from the one during the rest of the week.)

The rather abstract and formal description is superficial of course, but maybe it gives an impression…

It’s hard to say something about social life in here in general. The
‘community’ of the imprisoned women is full of contrasts and contradictions and each one of the inmates may probably experience the social structure her way – depending on her individual situation and point of view.

There is a kind of strong solidarity amongst the women as well as mobbing.
There are tactical alliances as well as real friendship.

Everybody is lonely in some way. Nearly all women hide most of their
feelings – and long for being understood. There is a lot of social pressure to pretend you are strong and to keep emotions for yourself; no one wants to be reminded of her own deep sadness and her own worries (e.g. about her children who are now separated from their mother). But all this does NOT mean staying in distance from one another. The women do give each other a lot of warmth, sympathy, compassion and encouragement. Well, just like outside the prison walls material needs and hierarchy based on different ‘wealth’ is an important factor.

And last but not least everybody longs for any interesting thing, any news or any person that promises to be a splash of colour in the grey of day-to-day life behind bars.
